BRISBANE

Eye examinations at your address in Brisbane

Sight on Site is a mobile optometry practice. The examination happens where you are, in a purpose built clinic vehicle that parks at your address, with the instruments installed and calibrated rather than carried in and set up.

Greater Brisbane is on the standard schedule, so there is no travel fee and no minimum number of people. A single appointment at home and a full clinic day at a residential aged care home in Chermside or Carindale are booked the same way.

Aged care

Aged care and retirement villages in Brisbane

We schedule a clinic day at the home or village, see residents one after another, and leave a written report for the care team and the GP.

Where a facility has kerbside parking we work from the vehicle. Where it does not, which is common in the inner suburbs and around the CBD, we work from a room the facility provides and bring the instruments in. Bed bound residents are seen at the bedside either way.

Local detail

Working around Brisbane traffic

Inner city facilities are scheduled outside peak hours where we can, so the arrival window we give you is one we can hold. Bayside and northside runs are grouped on the same day so a facility is not waiting on a rotation from another region.

If your building has a loading zone, a height restricted basement or a resident car park, note it when you book and we will plan the visit around it.

Questions

Mobile optometry in Brisbane

Do you come to homes anywhere in Brisbane?
Yes. Greater Brisbane is on the standard schedule, from the CBD out to Forest Lake, Bracken Ridge, Wynnum and The Gap. There is no minimum number of people and no travel fee inside the standard area.
Is the eye test bulk billed?
Yes, bulk billed with a valid Medicare card. Without a Medicare card the examination is $110. Glasses are priced separately, from $149 for a complete pair.
Can you visit an aged care home in the inner city with no parking?
Yes. Where kerbside parking is not available we work from a room the facility provides and bring the instruments in. Bed bound residents are seen at the bedside.
How long does an appointment take?
A comprehensive eye examination runs 20 to 30 minutes at home, at school or at work. In a retirement village or aged care home we allow a full hour per resident, which covers the examination and choosing and fitting glasses.
How quickly can you come out?
We reply within one business day with a confirmed date and an arrival window. Urgent symptoms such as sudden vision loss, flashes, a curtain across the vision or eye pain need same day care, so call rather than book online.
