A comprehensive examination runs 30 to 45 minutes, and a full hour per resident in villages and aged care. Every pair is checked and the final fitting reviewed before it reaches you.
The collection is selected frame by frame for how it looks and how it wears: hand finished acetate, stainless steel and lightweight titanium, fitted in person.
We bring a purpose built clinic vehicle to your address. Eye examinations are bulk billed through Medicare for card holders.
Many eye conditions develop without obvious symptoms. Distance, mobility and time are the common reasons a check gets put off.
The clinic is a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter carrying a body built by Varley, the Australian manufacturer that builds ambulances for Queensland Ambulance Service. It is a box body on a cab chassis, so the interior is a room you stand up in, with the instruments installed along the walls.
You walk in through the side door and sit down in the examination chair. The door closes, so the consultation is private, and there is room for a family member or carer to sit in.
Steps and a grab rail at the side door, with a portable ramp on request. Tell us when you book if the steps will be difficult and we will set up inside instead.
Cold storage for eye drops, and the cabinetry carries the frame range, dispensing tools and everything else a clinic room holds.
The vision tester, slit lamp and visual field analyser are mounted in place, so the examination runs the same way at every address.
Sight on Site Optometry is run by a registered, therapeutically endorsed optometrist. Most eye examinations are bulk billed through Medicare, and all major private health funds can be claimed on the spot.
The clinic vehicle is installed and calibrated with the same diagnostic equipment used in any well equipped Australian optometry practice.
